Harrismith Beach, Barbados

beach

Harrismith Beach is an exceedingly romantic location, the cliffs, swaying palm trees and hillside caves enfolding you as you sit on the white sand in the cove, watching the waves rolling on to the shore. A sharp contrast with many of Barbados' more developed and busier beaches, Harrismith Beach in Barbados is the perfect location for relaxation, meditation, picnicking, reading, beachcombing, or gathering shells and pebbles. It is so remote and peaceful that some visitors have described the experience of visiting Harrismith Beach in Barbados as like being 'a castaway in paradise'.

- Caprera Beach, Sardinia

beach

Rocks, sandy coves and crystal clear water. Caprera Island, which was chosen for retirement by the hero who unified Italy, Garibaldi, remains a haven of forests and bays. Between beach relax and snorkeling it worth finding the time to visit the Dolphin Research Center.

In the south of the island are two of the most beautiful beaches of Sardinia: Cala Portese to relax and Relitto beach where you can snorkel among the remains of a shipwreck. Do not forget also a visit to Cala Andreani, maybe the most beautiful beach of sand in Caprera. But there are also Punta Palma in the east and the northern Cala Coticcio, also known as Tahiti. Do you think it’s enough to describe it?

- Legzira Beach, Morocco

beach

Between Mirleft and Sidi Ifni can be found Morocco’s most unique beach.

Like its other Atlantic counterparts, the 8 km-long stretch of Legzira Beach is windy, rocky, and expansive. What sets Legzira apart, however, are its two mammoth stone arches (Sadly, one of them collapsed a few months ago). Naturally formed after years of erosion, these sedimentary giants jut out into the perpetually crashing waves and are accessible during low-tide.

- Matira Beach, Bora Bora, French Polynesia

beach

Matira is perhaps the most famous of Tahiti's beaches, and for good reason: The mile-long stretch of silky, powder-white sand slopes gently into a shallow emerald lagoon, and is backed by a thick curtain of palms and tropical foliage. Added bonus: It’s one of the only public-access beaches in Bora Bora, so you won't need to pay five-star resort prices to enjoy its beauty. Come early to stake out a spot.

- Ko Phi Phi Beaches, Thailand

plage

The Phi Phi group of islands is the ultimate destination for beach lovers in southern Thailand. Coming in all shapes and sizes, the beaches of Phi Phi all share white powdery sand, crystal-clear water, and coconut trees that give them a picturesque touch. Wannabe explorers and adventurers can spend days hopping from one beach to the other, soaking up the sun in this relaxing environment.

- Saona Beaches, Dominican Republic

beach

The beaches of Isla Saona were selected among the best beaches of the Caribbean by Caribbean Travel & Life magazine. Its beaches are spectacular, unspoiled, with lush palm trees and turquoise waters that make them one of the most beautiful regions of the Dominican Republic.

-  Bimini Beaches, Bahamas

beach

Most of Bimini Beaches have fine white sand and are found on the west side of North Bimini. The most popular is a long section of three continuous beaches, stretching from Alice Town to Bailey Town, referred to as Radio Beach, Blister Beach and Spook Hill Beach. There is also Tiki Hut Beach on South Bimini and a selection of secluded beaches on the Cays to the south. Fine white-sand beaches with calm water line almost the entire western side of private Cat Cay Island. While beachcombing, you will likely find exquisite treasures like whole seashells and colorful sea glass.

- Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue, Seychelles

beach

With sun-dappled giant boulders, calm turquoise waters, snow white sand, and palm trees and jungle for greenery, this Indian Ocean beach seems created by a Hollywood set designer. It’s no wonder that it is often ranked as the most photographed beach in the world.

El Nido, Palawan, Philippines

beach

El Nido alone is home to around 50 white sand beaches, it’s impossible to choose just one, all of which are set around dramatic limestone formations and boast the finest and whitest sand you’ll ever see. The water is so blindingly blue it makes the Caribbean Sea look murky in comparison. And the sunsets? Well, they’ll ruin you for life. Consider yourself warned!

- Camps Bay Beach – Cape Town, South Africa

plage

For sheer drama, it’s hard to beat this wide arc of sand located on the Atlantic just seven minutes from Cape Town. Backed by the craggy Twelve Apostles mountain range, Camps Bay is popular with the young, beautiful and successful who swim, surf, sip and shop (there’s also a palm-lined promenade). Enjoying a sundowner cocktail here is a must — as west-facing restaurants and bars offer superb views.
