The pain of a sunburn. It can be pretty horrendus!
Of course at Elly we recommend taking all the necasary precautions to not get sunburnt, but if you do we’re here to help! One of our favorite remedies is Frozen Aloe Vera Gel. Easy to make at home, and a great relief to the skin. Not only do you get the great benefits of the Aloe, which will help heal the burn and avoid peeling, but you get the cooling effect from the ice.
So, if you find yourself with a stinging sunburn, follow these steps and a “cool” relief is on its way!
1. Purchase aloe vera gel. Select natural aloe vera gel that contains close to 100% aloe vera. Some sunburn relief formulas have added ingredients, which may interfere with the freezing process. You can also add 20 drops of lavender essential oil.
2. Fill each reservoir of the ice cube tray 3/4 of the way with aloe gel.
If you only have a limited amount of gel, consider adding a small amount of water to each reservoir to beef up each cube.
3. Allow the ice to freeze. Depending upon your freezer setting, this could take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours.
You obtain the best results if you can freeze the cubes overnight.
What could be more refreshing to the skin during a hot day in the sun?
When your kid get a bad sunburn, pop one of the aloe vera cubes out of the tray and apply it to the affected area the minute (or even before) you feel pain.
Instant sunburn relief!
